What do backflow incense cones look like?
The new variant of incense cones, backflow incense cones, is cone-shaped that releases incense smoke in the opposite direction as compared to the regular ones, i.e. in the downward direction creating an illusion of a smoky waterfall. This is due to its small and hollow tunnel in the bottom that runs through the middle of the cone and ends up in a hole at the base of the cone. These waterfall incense burner are simple to use and flow gently downwards dispersing the scent across the room.
How do backflow incense cones work when lit?
When you light backflow incense cone, the smoke released is dense and it flows downwards and it enters the hollow center tunnel, where it gets cooled where it follows along the path. When it cools, the smoke becomes denser, and it exits the incense at the bottom to flow gently downwards.
Detailed instructions on how backflow incense cna be used?

Hold the backflow incense cone with one hand or you can use tweezers.
Light the end of the cone with a lighter or a match as you would do it with a candle wick.
Ensure that the incense is merged in the flame until it burns with a small flame.
Gently blow out or fan the flame or remnants of the same.

Check the tip where the flame was. If you see a glowing ember, and smoke starts releasing out of the bottom, then the incense has been lit correctly. If you are not sure, leave the incense for a minute or some time, and then re- check. If you do not see an ember glowing, and there is no smoke releasing at the bottom, you have completely extinguished it by accident, and will need to repeat the aforementioned steps.

Place the backflow incense cone into the holder. Be sure that the bottom hole of the incense aligns with the hole on the seat of the incense holder, or the incense plume will be blocked.
What are the steps to put out backflow incense cones?
Backflow incense cones can be used for offering your prayers to the lord or you can use them for relaxing and meditating. These incense cones are easy to light and put off as well. It’s commonly asked from us by the customers the best way to put off the backflow incense burner.

Once lit, it is quite tricky to put it out and to keep it for later use.

We do not recommend the use of water to put out backflow incense cones. The best way to put out a backflow incense burner that has not been burnt completely is to immerse it into a cup of water. Just note that once you do this, you will have to discard the incense cone, it cannot be used again.
How to dispose of incense cone ashes?
We often get asked how to dispose of burnt backflow incense cone ashes. This can be tricky as if you try to pick up the burnt incense cone, the ash will get scattered everywhere and make quite a mess around your space. This is how we recommend:

Wait for some time for the burnt incense cone to cool down (about 5 min)

Move a trash bag or can close to the incense (don’t try to move the incense holder)

Pick up the small metal plate the backflow incense cone is placed on, and gently tip the whole burnt cone into the trash.
Words of caution for backflow incense burner
For best effects, burn backflow incense cones indoors away from any air contact.

Please note that after burning the cones it’s normal for a light residue in oil form to appear on the backflow incense burner. For this reason, we recommend protecting any piece of furniture it is placed upon.

The residue can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

Please exercise caution when burning backflow incense cones.

Only backflow incense cones should be used with the idols– standard incense cones will not create the desired smoky incense waterfall effect.

It is normal for backflow cones to take up to 10 minutes after being lit to start creating the mist effect.
